Frequently Asked Questions
Web Hosting and E-mail
- What is "Hosting" ?
- While web pages are designed and developed on a single computer, they must be transferred to a server, or host, so that they are available to the rest of the world over the Internet. A host is simply a computer that has a constant, high speed connection to the Internet.
- Can I access my email from any computer?
- Yes. Please see our instructions for accessing your email and website control panel.
- Why choose Pixels for website hosting?
- There are many options for web hosting available, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what is the best option. Pixels provides the best service possible as we will answer our phone when you require technical support, instead of receiving a machine and being on hold. Our hosting services are fully supported and you will never be charged for hosting maintenance and troubleshooting. Hosting with Pixels means you don't need to worry about a thing!
- Will I have access to my web statistics?
- Yes. All websites built by Pixels have website statistics being collected. At your request we can grant access to the reports or, for a small fee, e-mail reports on a regular basis.
- What does hosting host?
- Please see our hosting packages page for information on prices.
Privacy Statements
- What is a privacy statement?
- If you are collecting information from a visitor to your site, you will need a privacy statement. This tells the customer what information you are collecting, and what you are going to use it for. Usually this tells the customer that you DO NOT intend to use it to send them spam/promotional emails, or sell/provide it to a company that does.
- Why do I need it?
- Due to the recent changes in the Privacy of Information act, anytime you request information of a visitor, you are required to tell them what you intend to use it for. It also gives the visitor peace of mind, and they are more likely to provide the information you would like to have!
- When do I need it?
- If you have a form on your website that requests personal information (name, address, credit card info), you will need a privacy statement readily viewable from the page the form is on. It is also advisable to have access to the statement from every page on your site.
